Anticorrosion Additive
A hydrostatic test is a way in which pressure vessels such as pipelines, plumbing, gas cylinders, boilers and fuel tanks can be tested for strenght and leaks. The test involves filling the vessel or pipe system with a liquid, usually water, which may be dyed to aid in visual leak detection and pressurization of the vessel to the specified test pressure. During the test procedure, corrosion of metallic parts of the device can occur, due to the contact, even short, with water.
ASCOTEC® has developed a specific corrosion inhibitor for this application, the ASCOTRAN®-L. When added to the water used for the process, at very low dosages, the ASCOTRAN®-L provides a total protection of metallic elements, both during and after the test procedure.
